Today's Evangelism

Here is a book I finished reading recently, "Today's Evangelism, Its Message And Methods". If you are even remotely serious in what our Lord has commanded us to do, to give the Gospel to the perishing, then this should be one of the many books on your short list.
Of course, if Scripture does not soften your heart for the lost, then no amount of human wisdom will cause you to move off your comfortable chair into the world of true evangelism. Evangelism is not inviting your friend or neighbor to church, or being a friend to someone without telling them about the Gospel, or handing out bottles of water with your churches name printed on the plastic. No, each of those things, and many others, are not doing the work of an evangelist. Evangelizing is going out into the streets, no matter where that may be, and delivering the clear message of God's Law and Grace of Jesus Christ. Romans 7:7, the middle of the verse, "I would not have come to know sin except through the Law. Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. Yes, go out and proclaim the Truth of Jesus Christ where the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing and the Gospel that will be offensive. You can't do this in your comfortable pews. It's hard work. Here are a few quotes that I find worth remembering from "Today's Evangelism".

Ernest Risinger says: There are two results(1) "...he that believes and is baptized shall be saved." (2) ...he that does not believe shall be damned." Salvation is one result, and damnation is another result. Therefore, when the biblical gospel is preached, there will be results, and God will be glorified.
Another, "follow-up programs" do not do much, because as a rule there is nothing to follow up, no reality in the beginning. It is also a little hard to develop a follow-up program from the New Testament, because when the New Testament sinners were converted, there was not need for a "follow-up program." They became followers of Christ; in other words, they did the following.
And this one, "Probably the verse in the Bible that best describes the work of Christ is
Isa 42:21
The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make [it] honourable. " "This leads to a question in respect to the present-day evangelistic message...Where is the evangelistic preaching of the law?" Paul said,
Rom 3:20
because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law {comes} the knowledge of sin.

It's just a few quotes but the book can be purchased for a few dollars on ebay or buy it new and put your own notes in it. Be ready to correct your theology on evangelism. No amount of 40 days of purpose reading, praying like Jabez, leaving out words like hell, damnation from your vocabulary, telling people Jesus has a plan for your life, your heart has a Jesus shaped hole that only He can fill, or think positive thoughts qualify as the Gospel. The True saving knowledge Christ has for sinners is we all are liars, thieves, and adulterers at heart, and all these will have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone...Knowing this we should run to Christ and fall at His feet and ask for mercy. Repent and have faith in Christ alone. He is willing to save and once saved you will know the true love of God.
